Squish and Squash

Reference art for my and my girlfriend's Shiinotic brothers from our Sun & Moon playthroughs!

Squish is the older brother, a lankier-than average Shiinotic who has a timid, but very loving heart. He's notably flamboyant and serves as the cranky, paranoid mom friend for the team, or a literal mom in the case of Titanica the Golisopod. Finding her as an abandoned infant Wimpod on the shores of Akala Island, Squish could not stand to leave her alone and took her home, acting as a father to her despite only being a recently-evolved adult himself. Nowadays, Squish is older and wiser, and cares deeply for the well-being of baby Pokemon, often serving as a nanny for newly-hatched infants, though his anxiety and tendency to fret over little things makes him a stubborn father indeed.

Squash is the younger brother, and constantly lived under Squish's shadow as a Morelull (both figuratively and literally), jealous of all the praise he received as a child. Despite this, he was very close to his brother and the two frequently frolicked the grasslands of their home in Brooklet Hill, until one day Squish went out too far and was spotted by a traveling trainer, and subsequently captured. Now alone and afraid without his big brother, Squash was forced to take duties he had never been prepared for and grew up faster than he would have liked to. The constant stress of having to deal with both Squish's chores and his own made the Morelull often weep out of frustration, which was loud enough to attract another trainer which fell in love with him at first sight.

Though initially reluctant to become a trainer's Pokemon, his view instantly 180'd when he was reunited with his brother Squish, who had conveniently been captured by his trainer's girlfriend. Now together again and free of the stress and trauma of being a wild Pokemon, Squash and his brother live the easy-going and spoiled life of having a trainer (even if it means getting into a fierce scruff every now and then). Squash can be easily picked out from other Shiinotic by his stout frame and large, hyphae mustache, which often gets many compliments and leads others to believe he is much older than he actually is. Squash is more willing to do dangerous things than his brother and often has to talk him out of being paranoid over silly things, though there are times where both brothers are equally as timid and afraid of things (such as a scary wild Pokemon attack!!).

These two Shiinotic live happily with their trainers, fellow teammates, and most importantly, each other, and find it hard to picture a life without one another. They often do things together, such as eating, sleeping, or even using the bathroom. Their ability to share and cooperate rivals that of a Plusle and Minun, but of course that doesn't spare them from having the occasional brotherly scuffle (usually over Squish panicking about something or Squash wanting to do something dangerous). Despite belonging to trainers, the two are often out of their Pokeballs and are frequently found near their shared lover, a handsome Amoonguss belonging to Squash's trainer. The three of them have a happy, healthy polyamorus relationship and raise baby Pokemon together.
